Takata Seat Belts, Inc., a major Japanese auto-parts manufacturer, built its 130,000 square foot United States Headquarters and Manufacturing Facility on a 42 acre campus in Westover Hills. Tokyo-based Takata Corp. is one of the world's largest makers of safety restraint systems for automobiles, producing 20 percent of all seat belts and 10 percent of all air bags used in cars manufactured in North America. Takata assembles its seat belts in a maquiladora in the Del Rio-Ciudad Acuna area, where the locally made parts will be sent. Finished seat belts will then be shipped to car makers all over North America.
