On March 31, 1995, The American Funds Group/Capital Group Companies, Inc. purchased 88.5 acres in Westover Hills, at the corner of Westover Hills Blvd. and Wiseman Blvd., to build their San Antonio regional service center "office campus" to accommodate operations for its national investment management company.

The American Funds Group is the nation's largest mutual fund family sold exclusively through financial advisers, with more than $325 billion in assets representing over 11 million accounts. The American Funds Group is also one of the nation's oldest fund families, with roots dating back to 1931. From the beginning, their careful and patient approach has helped them to maintain a strong defense against market declines.

This San Antonio regional service center provides customer service support to the shareholders of the mutual funds managed by its organization. The American Funds Group/Capital Group Companies selected the New York based, world-renowned PEI COBB FREED & PARTNERS ARCHITECTS (formerly I.M. Pei & Partners), to design their Westover Hills "Office Campus" facility. The Westover Hills facility was designed to expand incrementally, as needed, to accommodate organizational growth over the next few years, with the proposed build out designed for 750,000 square feet. On September 18, 1998 The Capital Group Companies moved into their new 535,000 square foot facility.
